Truth.
I appreciate this post and all your posts Nancy. You always bring a sense of quiet, peace and gratitude. Some posts are sweet and warm and others remind me of how lucky I am in life. How lucky is it to be able to sit and talk about books and other life things in the comfort of my own home? To read kind things and feel uplifted. To learn new things and feel enlightened. You and so many others here are so clever in your analyses in the discussions. Often when I read the topics for discussion, the one or two ideas I had to offer are already expressed, so I wish I could contribute more. I have never been a member of a book club before, so it is nice to be able to join this one and not feel completely out of place. I think that is why this post of yours here today resonates with me and I am thankful for everyone here for including me.
I have seriously never read anything you posted, either as a separate post or as a discussion comment, and failed to see something more than I had considered or appreciated before. That is true across the board and one of the reasons I go back to look at posts and discussions I have already read. I have also never been part of a book club before, neither in person or on line. I absolutely share your gratitude for this opportunity. I also hope that you, and anyone who joins a conversation at any time, sees how your comments add to the conversation for all of us.
I could not possibly agree with Jane more about appreciating participation in any form by everyone. This is a safe space for all to express their ideas. I also agree with Mei Lan with respect to the thoughtfulness of your posts, Nancy, and with her appreciation of the message in this post.
Well said, Jane. Everyone here brings a different perspective, comes up with new ideas, and has different strengths. What makes a bookclub great is the diversity of thought, the feeling of inclusivity and support for all members and their contributions, and the cookies. Thank goodness we all have Chez Mama to bake cookies together and collectively throw away the disastrous results. But seriously, I have only seen kindness, support and encouragement here, and if I ever see anything to the contrary, I hope there will be a collective objection compassionately presented to the author. Everyone who embraces the spirit of Three Pines (and enjoys the spirit of Chez Mama) is very welcome here.
I appreciate all the thoughtful comments. I have never actually been part of a book club discussion before and I am really having fun here.
I’m very surprised that you and Jane have not been book club members before. You both seem like experts. I enjoy both of your comments immensely, as well as some of the others here who also post very detailed and insightful responses to the questions.
