An absolutely gorgeous work of art from Emily Carr to start us off for 2025.

“Forest, British Columbia” (1932). It’s interesting that much of her style was defined by portraying foliage as sheets of cloth with folds and wrinkles.

Now, my poor memory is showing itself again, so please forgive me. Which LP book references Emily Carr? Was it A Brutal Telling? Were there more references to Emily Carr in other books?

  1. I recall seeing Emily Carr’s work in the Vancouver Art Gallery. The other Vancouver “must see” for me (I have been at least twice) is the Museum of Anthropology. I thought of it often reading about Armand’s visit to the Haida Gwaii.
