Book Club Friends With Benefits
(But not that way!)
Hello friends!
We’re so pleased to be able to write this post today; we’ve been waiting to hear back from our contact with a local book distributor and we just received a reply this morning.
As you know, we’ve received several ARCs and have been posting reviews for each book. We had the idea to pass the books on to our friends here on BCF, and so we reached out to our contact to ask for permission. You’re reading this post now because permission was granted, with an informal request that anyone receiving an ARC from us post about the book after you’ve read it. No requirements on length or depth; no expectations on content except your honest opinion of the book.
Here are the books available:
In addition to books above, we also have ARCs of “Perfect Storm” by Paige Shelton and “Specimen” by Jaima Fixsen. At this moment, Tara is the only one of us to have read all of the books reviewed (she is the fastest reader of us all and some of these books only took a few hours for her to finish). She attempted to read “Perfect Storm”, but it was a DNF for her. She intends to give “Specimen” a go in the near future.
Tara has mentioned that she enjoyed “Trouble Island” the most, followed by “Beautiful Ugly”, “The Crash” and then “Cold As Hell” and “Secret of the Three Fates”.
So please let us know if any of the books here are of interest to you. We would love to pass them on to you!
*Please note that this offer is open to all of our friends here, but priority will be given to our friends who have consistently contributed to our community with posts, comments, likes, etc.
I would like to try Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney.
I just bought the Beautiful Ugly and am anxious to read it. I have read several others by Alice Feeney and enjoyed them quite a bit. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it.
Maybe Beautiful Ugly should be a suggestion for one of the upcoming BOTMs with so many here reading it!
We could definitely publish discussion questions for these books if there is interest or if that would be an easier way to share thoughts. Perhaps discussion questions in the forum would be more fun? In addition, as you hopefully know, you can also pose your own questions for others to answer as well. There is no requirement for a formal or lengthy review, just post something, anything really, in good faith, in exchange for the ARC.
Which other Alice Feeney books have you read Libby? She is doing very well, with only seven books written so far. One of her books will be on Netflix with some big names attached!
mei lan I have read: Rock Paper Scissors, His and Hers, I Know Who You Are, Sometimes I Lie, Daisy Darker, and Good Bad Girl.
Which one is going to be on Netflix? I don’t want to miss that.
You have read all of her books then! I think Beautiful Ugly is her 7th. She must be a very good writer, I will read this one too. I had read that His & Hers will be made by Jessica Chastain and will have Jon Bernthal as a star. I just looked it up and it looks like Ellen DeGeneres is producing a major Warner Bros. TV series based on Sometimes I Lie, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Netflix announce that they would be making a series based on Rock Paper Scissors, but that was in 2021, so I’m not sure it that will happen.
Good to know. I will do some Netflix research and see what I can find. Thanks friend.
Of course, you are very welcome friend.
I think it would be nice to be able to have a place to go to read everyone’s thoughts on any particular book. I know that when I finish a book, I like to know what someone else thought about it. So it would be wonderful to be able to read Nancy’s and yours and everyone else here whose opinion and analysis I deeply value, about a book that is not LP’s or a BOTM. Although, I guess that if you read it and like it, you can also suggest it as BOTM too. I also appreciate recommendations.
I would love to read Frieda’s book The Crash.
