I like to think we can choose our words in life-giving ways. Louise's writing, her wisdom and compassion, her humour and inclusivity help us to understand and empathize better. The world needs more altruistic people like Louise, especially right now. I think what she is particularly gifted at conveying in her writing is that in the wake of human trauma and life struggles we can develop a greater sense of affinity and empathy, especially when we stand together.

  1. Thank you Jo-Anne. Well said. I think you’re very right about needing more altruism and less of other things we’re seeing in the news. I do think it’s important that we share all the light, inspirational, joyful people, events and messages as we can find. This is how we support one another, this is how we draw strength. Make sure you scroll down to see just how inspiring Louise is with her contribution to the video series. I’m so glad that the books we love are authored by a truly wonderful person.

So happy to see you back with another lovely post.

  2. What you say about “life-giving ways” resonates with me, Jo-Anne. I can so easily get caught up in negative thinking these days, that I need to remind myself there’s so much good if I just look for it within others and within myself. Louise’s words and your post are wonderful reminders.

  3. Hello!! Lovely to see your post and I agree with your thoughts completely. It is certainly a choice to be more empathetic and supportive of one another, and I am so, so pleased that our community here on BCF embraces that choice daily. I’ve received comfort during these anxious times and seen honesty and openness. And there’s no shortage of humour and painfully cheesy puns. This is quite a special group, in my opinion, and I love to see the camaraderie and all the thoughtful exchanges of warmth, support and humour. And with books as the interest that binds us all together, we will never run out of topics to chat about.

Susan mentioned it above, but you will definitely want to watch the videos posted in the feed of Louise. I was moved by her grace and generosity in sharing her stories.

I hope you’ll visit us more frequently and will look forward to seeing your posts and comments here too Jo-Anne, as I’ve also found your words to be inspiring!
