Love Medicine (Ojibwa Saga) Books In Order

Louise Erdrich is known for her evocative, beautiful prose and rich character development and her Love Medicine (Ojibwa Saga) reveals these strengths to full effect. Each reader has a different book among the Love Medicine series that they love, but they all praise Louise’s poetic writing and interesting characters, and they all say they are deeply moved after finishing any of her novels.

Louise Erdrich’s Love Medicine series is loosely connected, so the books can definitely be read as standalone novels. But she frequently weaves her novels together with interlocking storylines. Characters often reappear across timelines and in different books. Because the books share themes and characters, you may get a much richer experience by reading them in order.

For example, Fleur Pillager, an Ojibwe woman, appears throughout several of the books in the Love Medicine series. Four Souls (Book 6) is considered a sequel of sorts to Tracks (Book 3) and picks up right after the events in that book.
