Stories of the Irish Troubles is a historical thriller series about the tumultuous period in Northern Ireland when it was wracked by sectarian violence. Author Patrick Taylor was raised in Northern Ireland and immigrated to Canada when partisan brutality escalated in the late 1960s. Only Wounded (Book 1) is a collection of his short stories of people caught in the Troubles. The novels, Now and in the Hour of Our Death (Book 2) and Pray for Us Sinners (Book 3) also revolve around the Troubles but follows the life of Davy MacCutcheon, a former bomb maker for the Provisional IRA. Pray for Us Sinners is a prequel of sorts but it is best to read the series’ two novels in order.
