Thanks for asking, Cheryl. The “Hands Off” rally was part of the nationwide events; organized by two local Indivisible groups and others. The cost of the event was about $10,000 and it was entirely covered by donations. I believe the crowd was estimated at 5,000. It was a scripted event with multiple speakers, including Dolores Huerta, who along with Cesar Chavez organized the US farm worker’s movement.
“Resist Tyranny Tuesday” is much more casual, no speakers (although there is a guitarist singing variations of 1960-1970s folk music and a drummer). We meet at a central and busy ABQ intersection bounded on three sides by our local, state and federal courthouses. Folks carry signs, chat, cross the street on the light and generally look visible. The gratifying part is how many vehicles honk their approval or high-five the people there.
