Looks like our chipmunks or is it a prairie dog?
Looks like our chipmunks too. Have Dolly and Tati noticed their outdoor friend?
This is an antelope squirrel, often mistaken for a chipmunk but it is missing the black stripe a chipmunk has along with the white one. We are too hot and dry for a chipmunk; they are only happy in the mountains. It gets up on its hind legs like a prairie dog. They are quite good climbers; I have watched them scale a 5 ft cinder block wall and it looks like that is what this one is sitting on. They patronize my water bowl and, when I put them out for the quail, the black-oiled sunflower seeds.
I am not sure if Tati has seen them. Dolly is pretty unimpressed and pays them no attention.
Interesting! Thanks Jane! It seems that I am always learning something new from our friends here; love it and am so grateful.
Sounds like Dolly’s a very good girl. No wonder she’s so popular at your local pub.
