About Book Club Friends
Hello!
Thanks for visiting us! We were inspired to put Book Club Friends online by our book club friends who have enriched our reading journeys with their incredible suggestions for new books and authors, interesting, insightful and often hilarious chats, and so much more. Our worlds have become so rich with all the wonderful stories recommended by friends, and then, incredibly, ever so much deeper and satisfying after a good discussion afterwards. So, we thought that making a free, accessible service through Book Club Friends would help more readers find books and authors they love and want to recommend to their friends.
We are a small group of close friends who privately own and operate Book Club Friends independently of any author, publisher or bookshop. We’re completely unbiased! Well, not completely, perhaps. We do want to stay on the positive side of publishing by only asking for recommendations for books and authors we (and you) love. Every book and author on this site has been personally recommended by someone trusted. That circle of trust continues to grow as we share our favourite reads and authors with others and find more and more common ground. So if you’re here, chances are that we have a friend or two in common and we’d really enjoy sitting down for a nice drink, a little treat and a good chat with you!
You may have also found your way here through our Louise Penny Book Club Group, which was also an inspiration for what this site could be, as we are real-life friends with the wonderful admins of that group. We have heard all the stories of the struggles and challenges of keeping a large FB group safe and organizing the great content in a way to make it consistently available and accessible. We know about the constant platform improvements which sometimes result in a total loss of valuable resources and shared stories. So part of our Book Club Friends site was created in response to these challenges and now we consider this site to be a companion site to our very special FB LP group. What makes our FB group so special is our membership. So welcome. We are so very pleased that you have joined us here on Book Club Friends as well. We hope this site will bring you as much enjoyment as your engagement with our group has already brought us.
We’re proud, friendly Canadians, so come in, grab a coffee or tea and stay for a bit. We’d love to meet you! And in true Canadian fashion, sorry if you encounter any problems or can’t find your favourite author or books here.
