Thank you to everyone here. And an especial thank you for those thinking of our national parks and Petroglyph National Monument. My regular volunteer shift at PETR is Friday afternoon. It was an afternoon like none before. When I left at the end of my shift, the staff there still did not know if they would be laid off. I did not know if the people I work with, several have become friends as well, would be there next week. Even some of our visitors asked if people would lose their jobs. The only bright spot was telling one couple that no one could fire me since I am a volunteer. I have since learned that PETR did not lose anyone at this point and that one of our former staff, now at a different monument, is OK as well.
