Thanks, Libby. I’m trying my best to not just complacently give in to what’s going on around me. All my elected officials are R, but I’ll still let them know I exist and have opinions. We have to keep trying. Sort of like those fireflies in TGW! I understand so well your frustration, too. How to have meaningful dialogue when people don’t want to listen and automatically assume that you have nothing of value to contribute. I just spent a good hour or so on LP’s FB site trying to have a civil conversation with somebody who’s upset with LP’s choice to cancel her Kennedy Center gig and thus felt the need to spout a bunch of rhetoric about our current glorious leader. I gave it a try; but that person of course didn’t want to hear anything I had to say, and just assumed that I was uninformed and wrong about everything. In the end, I did state that if she truly felt that we would never be able to have common ground about anything of importance in this country, then we are indeed without hope. And I refuse to believe that we are! But how to find the way to get there… It was very frustrating so I came here to get a dose of positivity and common sense.
