There are also local decisions that you can influence. Here in BC, it would be wonderful to see a barrage of messages from BC residents contacting BC Ferries to tell them not to go ahead with their Starlink contract.
Here’s the latest news : https://cheknews.ca/bc-ferries-holds-onto-starlink-contract-despite-u-s-tariffs-says-discussions-ongoing-1241804/
Here’s how to contact BC Ferries and give them feedback: https://feedback.bcferries.com/collection/collection.aspx?cguid=dce-586337eaf0d5&cType=1
Here are some points you could use for your comments:
Subject: Concern Over BC Ferries’ Starlink Contract
BC Ferries should reconsider its Starlink contract due to U.S. tariffs negatively impacting Canadian businesses.
Ontario has already canceled its $100M Starlink contract to protest these unfair trade practices.
Continuing this partnership supports a U.S. company over potential Canadian alternatives.
Starlink is owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, whose business and political actions often raise concerns.
BC Ferries should prioritize providers that align with Canada’s values and economic interests.
Exploring Canadian or alternative providers keeps revenue within our economy.
Thank you for considering this important issue.
Sincerely, [Your Name]
