BA Paris
B. A. Paris (nee Bernadette MacDougall) was born in Surrey, England to a French mother and Irish father. After graduating from school, she moved to Paris, France where she worked for an international bank as a trader. There, she met her Scottish husband and the two now have five daughters. The couple retired from finance to set up an English language school together.
She only began writing when she turned 50 after one of her daughters suggested that she enter a writing competition. B.A. didn’t win, but it prompted her to complete her first novel. Her debut novel, Behind Closed Doors, became an international bestseller and has been translated into 40 languages. Since then, she has written seven psychological thrillers. Three of her books have been optioned for film and television.
She says of her work, “As a writer of psychological thrillers and domestic suspense, I am inspired by things that happen in my day-to-day, by people I have known and people I meet. My imagination then goes into overdrive and, before I know it, a story comes to life on the page.”
She currently lives in England with her family and her 80-year-old tortoise, Henry.
