Nancy Mayer:

My book club will, today, meet and discuss The Life We Bury by Allen Eskens. I really enjoyed this book and welcomed it since I’ve had a hard time finding a book that takes me away from all of the American struggles we’re living with, but this book accomplished that. I think it’s might be the first in a series. I gleefully join the ten women in my book club where we mostly drink wine, eat good food and chat about everything but the book. The Life We Bury, though, has some good discussion points for us. The book, the friends, the sharing of food………….perfect Three Pines setting.

  1. Nancy Herrington also recommended this and all of his books last December! I put it on my list back then but this is an excellent reminder to nudge it up a little higher on my list now. Thanks Nancy! Let us know how your book club meeting goes – perhaps we need to suggest this one for our BOTM here again. Wishing you a lovely day with good food, wine and friends. Sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday!

  2. I don’t see it on the specific BOTM suggestion list. I remember it from an earlier list and believe it came close to having enough votes to be chosen. I have not read it but would be happy to vote for it if someone who has nominated it!

    1. We clear away the past BOTM suggestions every month to give new suggestions a chance to get selected. This ensures that only active members of BCF are voting. So please suggest away every month – especially past suggestions that received a high vote count! For our last BOTM suggestion, we posted screenshots of the results on the BOTM suggestion page, just to give everyone a peek at the final vote counts, just in case anyone wonders. Full transparency here!

    1. Thank you, Jane.
Everyone in my book club of 11 women loved the book, several have already gone on to read the next books in the series. We had good food, good wine, good discussion.
This was my first time posting here. I am a big fan of Louise Penny, 2-3 times for each of her books, on paper and audiobook. Sometime I think I have a crush on Armand and sometimes it’s Jean Guy! But, I love all of her characters.
I look forward to reading more recommendations in this group.
