A Spoiler-Free Review of The Crash by Freida McFadden

With days and evenings packed with holiday commitments, the only quiet time to read has been late in the evening under the covers before bedtime. If you enjoy your sleep, we recommend not making this mistake while reading The Crash. Thankfully, this book is a quick read and took only two nights to finish. Two very late nights!

The Crash starts with an unforgettable prologue that is wildly successful at being both intriguing and haunting. It’s a short scene where no character names are mentioned. However, what happens in that scene is unmistakable. One person is doing something most of us could never imagine doing. Why are they doing this? How did the situation escalate to this point? Who are they doing it to? Who is this person doing this horrific, unthinkable act and how could they possibly think of themselves as a good person?

The mystery of who is behind the thoughts and who else is involved in the scene launches the book into a suspenseful thriller where all questions seem to be answered in short time, until the page is turned and more questions arise. The only thing clear in The Crash is that nothing is as it seems.

The Crash is the first book by Freida McFadden that we’ve read, although we’re certainly very aware of this author’s incredibly successful publishing career. After reading this book, we understand why Freida’s books are so popular. The Crash is a fun, well-crafted thriller that delivers on tension and surprises.

The nightmare she’s running from is nothing compared to where she’s headed.
