BCFs has mentioned Anne Tyler, one of my long time favorite authors.
She is not your "go to" for a fast moving plot! But, if you like quirky, endearing, eccentric and complex characters, you can't go wrong.
I never met Anne Tyler but I knew her next door neighbors and I absolutely have met her characters, somewhere in the years I lived in Baltimore.
This is a gift link to a most interesting interview.

If you find any one of her works, feel free to start there.
I am looking forward to her newest work and expect it will be worth adding to the list of books recommended for a BCFs discussion.
Amazing that she’s still working, while living in her retirement community, at 83 years old! Wonderful, actually. Thanks Jane! Another lovely read.
She sounds very no-nonsense about her approach to writing. Funny that she says she doesn’t do well discussing books when she writes them! Do you have a favorite book of hers?
I love her too. She was in a writers group with my mother in law’s best friend. How many degrees of separation is that. There is a YA writer you might like, Cynthia Voight from Annapolis MD. No living somewhere else, I think.
Amazing connection! And thank you both, Jane and Elinor, for the recommendations.
Thank you!
